On February 6, 2014, the UT System Board of Regents established an Intellectual Property Task Force in an effort to facilitate and expand intellectual property transactions. The Task Force on Intellectual Property Issues will evaluate the intent, current language, workability, and requirements of the Regents’ Rules relating to the disposition and management of research-derived intellectual property at the various institutions and recommend changes or revisions.

Given the potential impact the findings of this Task Force may have on rules surrounding intellectual property, UT Horizon Fund is postponing its 3rd annual student investment competition (CompeteUT), originally scheduled to be held on April 4th, 2014. We are using this unforeseen delay as an opportunity to further our engagement with the business community in our pursuit of expanding the competition and delivering greater value for our student participants.

Please reach out to Tiffany Kindred at or Jeet Vijay at if you have any questions. We will do our best to address your questions and concerns.
